Description:
Hammocks, slash pine uplands, cypress swamps, and freshwater marshes border the St. Johns River in this state reserve. Dirt roads and hiking trails, including the Florida Trail, provide access for visitors wishing to explore this fine example of natural central Florida.

Watchable wildlife:
Bald eagles, ospreys, and red-shouldered hawks can be seen from open areas. Road-side ditches pool water and congregate a variety of wading birds, river otters, and turtles.
