Lake Kissimmee State Park
Birding Hot Spot and Great Florida Birding Trail site

Description:
Flowering wet prairies, pine flatwoods, scrub, and natural lakes, including Lake Kissimmee, Florida's third largest lake, characterize this state park. Canoes can be rented on weekends. Several hiking trails and an observation tower offer views of wildlife and natural communities.

Watchable wildlife:
Lake Kissimmee is said to be among the best places in  Florida to see bald eagles. Wild turkey, northern bobwhite, sandhill cranes, and bobcats are sometimes seen along trails. Endangered snail kites nest at the southern end of Lake Kissimmee.

Directions:
From Lake Wales, take Florida Highway 27 to Florida 60.  Travel east on Florida 60 for 10 miles to Boy Scout Road.  Take a left, travel 3.7 miles, then take a right on Camp Mack Road.  Park entrance is 5.6 miles ahead.
