Barley Barber Swamp

Description:
A one-mile boardwalk runs through a cypress swamp of large bald cypress, red maples, and cabbage palms. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED AT LEAST ONE WEEK IN ADVANCE.

Watchable wildlife:
Red-shouldered hawks, barred owls, pileated woodpeckers, alligators, and turtles are common. Deer, bobcat, river otter, and gray fox are sometimes seen. Look for red-tailed hawks, American kestrels, belted kingfishers, and vultures on the six-mile drive from the entrance gate to the viewing area.

Directions:
From Indiantown, take Florida Highway 710 8 miles north.  Look for a left turn to the Florida Power and Light Company's Martin Power Plant.  After crossing the railroad tracks, look for a sign on the right, "Wait Here For Swamp Tours".
