Description: This is a large park that protects an excellent cross-section of coastal Florida habitats, including pine flatwoods, sand pine scrub, freshwater creeks, and cypress and mangrove wetlands along the lower Loxahatchee River. The river is popular for canoeists, and there are several trails for biking and hiking. Watchable wildlife: Scrub jays, gopher tortoises, snakes, and lizards are abundant in the sand pine scrub. Pine flatwoods harbor pine warblers, woodpeckers, and northern bobwhite. White-tailed deer, nesting bald eagles, wood storks, and sandhill cranes are sometimes seen from the road.
