Description: This is a small urban park close to the rim of Paynes Prairie that features a freshwater marsh and mature live oak hammock. There is a 1,200-foot boardwalk trail that encircles the marsh and a hammock trail. Watchable wildlife: Wading birds, including great blue herons, little blue herons, great egrets, cattle egrets, and snowy egrets, use the marsh throughout the year. The marsh also attracts common moorhens, purple gallinules, aquatic turtles, and snakes. You may hear barred and great horned owls on the hammock trail or in the picnic area, or see hermit thrushes, American redstarts, and other migratory songbirds in April and October.
