Description: Caladesi is an isolated barrier island just south of Honeymoon Island that offers beaches, mangroves, slash pine forests, and maritime hammocks. The island can be accessed only by ferry or private boat. There is a self-guided nature trail that wends through the island's interior. Watchable wildlife: During a walk along the beach, you might see bottle-nosed dolphins cruising offshore or the tracks of loggerhead sea turtles. Gulls, terns, and shorebirds hunt rest and hunt for food on exposed sandbars. Wading birds concentrate their feeding activities around the shallow water in the mangrove areas behind the dunes.
