Lettuce Lake County Park

drawing of wildlife

Description:
This site is located on a shallow, lake-like, portion of the Hillsborough River called Lettuce Lake. It offers a 3,500-foot boardwalk and tall observation tower that overlooks the river and hardwood swamp. There is also an upland nature trail and a short boardwalk through a cypress swamp.

Watchable wildlife:
This is a good place to see migratory warblers, as well as a summertime visitor-the prothonotary warbler. Wood ducks, alligators, and wading birds are frequently seen in and around the lake. Early morning is best for viewing wildlife in the park because there are few visitors and the birds are actively feeding.

Ownership:
Hillsborough County
